Old Perth Boys’ School on St George’s Terrace, Perth, has been entered into the 2017 Architecture Awards in the Heritage category and will form part of the exhibition of submissions in June. The School was constructed in 1854 and Curtin University now include the heritage building as part of their city premises. In 2016 the building had a makeover with Interior Designer, DY.o events, choosing a selection of Stylecraft furniture to create a contemporary executive look whilst maintaining the heritage significance of the space.
Erica Mathiesen, Director of DY.o events said, “Stylecraft furniture and accessories were chosen as each piece met the clients brief - executive, high quality, contemporary and minimalistic. The style of furniture chosen met the requirement of creating a flexible and multifunctional space, as we also had to delineate the informal meeting spaces, each affording some privacy. We also chose pieces that we were able to upholster in the key concept colours of blue, green and mustard, reflecting the relationship the heritage space had when the river embankment ran adjacent to the site. Presenting to the client in the showroom also gave a real sense of how each piece felt when sitting and provided a sense of ownership over the selection process. Overall the outcome has been well received by the client and the space looks fantastic.”
The Highlife Lounge and Armchair by Tacchini, Rix Lounge by ESO, Bill Floor Lamp by Touching Space, Oblique Coffee Tables by Prostoria and Catifa 46 4 Leg Timber by Arper all feature in the project.
