Woods Bagot won the tender for the redevelopment and expansion of the domestic and international terminals at Perth Airport in 2012. Completed in two stages, the project encompassed the construction of a new domestic terminal, and the expansion and upgrade of the existing international terminal.
The 1983 built airport had remained largely unchanged. Woods Bagot focused their master plan on providing the best journey for passengers while also streamlining the workings of the airport and meeting the commercial criteria. Together with a new domestic terminal an expanded and upgraded International terminal with additional duty fee retail space, a larger baggage reclaim hall and a reconfigured immigration, quarantine and customs area has now been completed.
Throughout both the domestic and international food courts are a variety of Derlot Editions product, including Stump Stools and Table, Twig Bench and the Guell Modular System. The international departure lounge holds over 80 of the Crystal Round Armchair by Italian brand Tacchini. Pol Beam seating by Akaba, Palm, Saya and Juno Chairs by Arper together with Australian designed and manufactured Home 2 armchairs all feature throughout the airport that is expected to cater for up to 20.2 million passengers by 2031.
With a collaboration between architects, landscape and engineering specialists a successful transformation was completed in 2016 which also included a new design for the entry, forecourt roads, drop-off and pick-up lanes.
