Celebrating International Women's Day 2021

This week as we celebrate International Women’s Day, we show appreciation to our incredible colleagues, friends, sisters, partners, mothers and daughters. In 2021, Stylecraft are focusing on the achievements of the women that surround us, starting with some of those on our team. Each of these women have experienced a unique career journey and accomplishments at Stylecraft - and in life.

Join us as we gain an insight into what inspires and drives these key team members in varied roles, locations and experiences.

Jacqui Wagar
Sustainability & Social Responsibility Leader, Sydney

Jacqui started her journey at Stylecraft as Product Consultant almost 15 years ago, she then became part of the marketing team before being promoted to NSW State Manager. In between her Stylecraft roles, Jacqui gained sales & marketing experience within the Architecture & Design industry in Sydney before returning in 2017 to a new role of Sustainability and Social Responsibility Leader.

Who has inspired you across your career?

There have been many people who have inspired me throughout my career from work colleagues and clients to family and friends.  I’m inspired by those who have a real passion for what they do, those with a belief that drives them each day, and people who are genuine and authentic.  I’ve found working in the sustainability space that people are much more likely to share ideas and collaborate, and in my current role, I’ve been lucky to meet and learn from some incredibly inspirational people such as Al Gore, Craig Reucassell and Natalie Isaacs from 1 Million Women, and inventors such as Professor Veena Sahajwalla, the most amazing scientist and passionate innovator.  From people who are leaders and changemakers in their own fields, and I’m constantly motivated and energised by them.

What are you most proud of achieving in your time at Stylecraft?

I’m proud that I have managed to reinvent myself so many times!  And I’m very grateful that I’ve been given the opportunity to do so.  From starting out in the industry as Product Consultant where I was presenting to boardrooms full of big corporate clients and running around town with my wheely suitcase full of product information, to becoming State Manager of NSW, managing the largest team within Stylecraft, to now working in a role that fills me with purpose each day.  Whilst it hasn’t been a direct career path, it’s certainly been a fulfilling one and one that I’ve been able to learn and grow from at each step.

In your role of Sustainability & Social Responsibility Leader you demonstrate a constant passion for achieving change, what’s your secret?

I genuinely believe in what I do.  I’m passionate about it in my personal life, so I bring that passion to work, for me there’s no real difference.  My aim is to lead by example, to walk the talk.   I’m also an optimist, so generally have a very positive outlook and visualise positive outcomes.  I believe that if you come at something with positivity and true conviction, your chances at success are that much stronger.
