Studio Tate reimagines the legal workplace with a considered, people-centred interior for Gordon Legal in Melbourne.
Delivering both workplace strategy and interior design, the practice has transformed a traditionally structured law office into an adaptable, dynamic environment that puts emphasis on growth, culture and personal wellbeing. A muted palette of neutral hues and soft grey tones, lifted by injections of maroon and cork, creates an interior that feels calm and welcoming throughout.
The reception area is anchored by the Omnia Lounge by Prostoria through its distinctive combination of square and circular geometry that brings a warm presence to the waiting setting. Its richly dimensioned upholstery offers generous comfort and ergonomics for various postures with the outer back finished in leather for a subtle, sophisticated touch. The Kaufmann Lounge by Mr.Fräg and Breeze Coffee and Side Tables by Ross Gardam complete the arrangement, complementing the geometric form of Omnia in a cohesive setting that supports moments of rest, waiting and pause.
Australian designed and manufactured, Kaufmann brings a structural, architectural presence to the setting through its slab-cut solid timber frame and generously upholstered seat and back. Combined with Omnia, the two create a front-of-house area that is genuinely comfortable. Gentle curtaining and plush carpets of the surrounding interior harmonise with the setting, contributing to the soothing atmosphere.
Catifa Up by Arper brings a refined, executive presence to the boardroom. An evolution of the iconic Catifa 53, its elevated backrest and fully upholstered finish with traditional line stitch detail sits atop a polished chrome base, delivering a considered aesthetic well suited to formal meetings and alike.
The Catifa 46 4-Way Castor by Arper carries a consistent design language through the individual workspaces and private breakout rooms, supporting moments of quiet focus and individual work.
In the collaborative meeting and breakout zones, the Lur 4-Way Castor Chair by Akaba brings warmth and energy to more dynamic spaces, highlighted by maroon accents that carry throughout the interior. Its wrap-around silhouette provides comfort while facilitating staff integration and flow within the office.
