Queenscliff Ferry Terminal

The new Queenscliff terminal is a landmark building designed by F2 Architecture which celebrates the connection between the East and West of Port Phillip Bay.

The ferry route between Queenscliff and Sorrento in Victoria is one of the most popular ferry passenger routes in Australia. The brief from the client, Searood Ferries, involved creating an enjoyable passenger experience for those embarking on the journey between the Mornington Peninsula and the Bellarine Peninsula. F2 Architecture’s triumph is also the striking exterior of the building which complements the coastal surrounds located in Wadawurring Country.

Softscape Modular Lounging and Ottoman designed by Helen Kontouris for LEN has been incorporated throughout the interior as a flexible seating system to adapt to passenger and visitor demand. The space can be used as a passenger waiting lounge, restaurant, training or event space so a versatile furniture solution was paramount.

Designed and manufactured in Australia, Softscape’s elements can be reconfigured based on the functionality required day-to-day. The colours and tones of the textiles selected for Softscape reflect the Port Phillip Bay waterway to build the sense of anticipation and excitement for passengers before their journey.

“The design has delivered a truly world class customer and staff experience. The design incorporates the functional elements of a café, restaurant, passenger waiting, training, and events, however in reality it has changed the essence of the customer experience to be far more than a transport experience.” Searood Ferries
