MDW 2026 Wrap Up
MDW 2026 Wrap Up
Melbourne Design Week saw Stylecraft Melbourne become a hub for local design, with highlights including AFDA 2026 and a celebration of Australian design on Level 1 of our showroom.
The Australian Furniture Design Award
Presented by Stylecraft and the National Gallery of Victoria, AFDA is one of Australia’s most prestigious furniture and lighting design awards, recognising excellence in design and its contribution to design discourse and Australian culture. This year’s theme, Living Well Living Small, challenged designers to respond to the realities of denser urban living — creating furniture and lighting that enhances comfort, functionality, and wellbeing in compact Australian homes.
The winner was announced at an event held at our showroom, bringing together friends and peers from the wider architecture and design community. Five finalists were invited to present their realised designs during Melbourne Design Week, with Joanne Odisho announced as the 2026 winner for her entry Mod-u — a modular, user-assembled lighting system that draws on the principles of circular design and material experimentation.

Celebrating Australian Design
Alongside AFDA, we continued our design week story on Level 1 of our showroom in a display dedicated to celebrating Australian design. The space featured the latest work from our acclaimed local designers including Tom Skeehan, Helen Kontouris, Ross Gardam and Keith Melbourne.
Stylecraft would like to extend its congratulations to Joanne Odisho and to all five AFDA 2026 finalists, and its thanks to everyone who joined us throughout Melbourne Design Week 2026.
