Stylecraft launches Reconciliation Action Plan
We are pleased to announce Stylecraft’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation through the launch our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). As proud supporters of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, Stylecraft is committed to conducting business in a manner that reflects our ethical values and creates meaningful change in our community.
We began our reconciliation journey in early 2020 when we formed an internal First Nations Impact working group, to focus on creating meaningful opportunities for First Nations engagement. Committed to driving reconciliation through our business activities, we worked closely with TAFE NSW to develop the Stylecraft First Nations Scholarship, launched in 2021. In 2022, we formalised our commitment to the development of a RAP and established a RAP Working Group made up of five staff members across four states, four departments and from various levels within the organisation.
Sean Kinchela, proud Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri man living on Yuin Country is the artist to Stylecraft’s RAP artwork. His creative output spans acrylic and digital artworks, and photography, specialising in Indigenous sporting jersey designs.
“I designed this artwork around the pride Stylecraft has for their work and brand, as well as the genuine work for the Aboriginal community through their generous donations and scholarships.” – Sean Kinchela.
We are committed to developing mutually beneficial and meaningful relationships and opportunities through actual listening, hearing, and learning.
Stylecraft’s first Reflect RAP focuses on four key areas: relationships, respect, opportunities and governance with key actions, deliverables and timelines. It will lay the foundations for future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives, and allow us as an organisation to strategically set reconciliation commitments in line with our own business objectives, for the most effective outcomes. These outcomes contribute towards the five dimensions of reconciliation: race relations; equality and equity; institutional integrity; unity; and historical acceptance.Â
We seek to consistently develop initiatives that will create meaningful change in our community and view our RAP as a highly effective tool to ensure cultural competence and inclusivity is embedded in the way we do business.
We believe with the support of Reconciliation Australia, our Reflect RAP will be a valuable foundation to advance meaningful reconciliation.
