Bates Smart were engaged to design the new Melbourne headquarters for Australian Unity, accommodating over 1000 staff.

Set in a landmark building on Spring Street, Bates Smart successfully designed a space connecting people, heritage and community.

By creating ‘villages’ over three floors, connectivity is achieved via a central stairwell. The amphitheatre acts as a focal space for the workplace, with custom Zinta benches by Arper providing seating for employees during Australian Unity presentations and activities.

A social space emulating a café features custom Cross tables by Arper alongside Tablet chairs by Sipa, both designed and manufactured in Italy, adding to the high end feel of the fit-out.
