Commonwealth Bank, Darling Quarter

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia workplace at Darling Quarter, designed by Hassell, reimagines the campus-style office as a flexible, human-centric environment that supports collaboration, wellbeing and adaptability.

The project revitalises two existing buildings into an interconnected workplace, combining social hubs, quiet zones and dynamic work settings within a highly modular planning framework.

Inspired by urban planning principles, the design is centred around an open, light-filled atrium featuring the Place Modular Lounge by Ross Gardam. Australian designed and manufactured, Place brings a contemporary presence to the space, grounding the expansive interior while offering a refined level of comfort. Its modular versatility allows for generous, inviting configurations that encourage informal gathering and moments of pause.

Also integrated within the atrium plaza, Zinta by Arper is utilised as tiered seating, providing a flexible platform for breaks, social connection and casual meetings. Its structured yet approachable form introduces a sense of rhythm within the space, encouraging both individual and group activity.

Throughout adjacent hub zones, the Kiik Modular Lounge by Arper is customised to create a series of breakout areas that support a variety of work modes and informal collaboration. Its modular system enables a range of configurations that align with the project’s emphasis on flexibility and longevity, allowing spaces to evolve alongside changing user needs and the modern workplace.
