Russell Kennedy

Leading law firm Russell Kennedy engaged Carr to design their new four floor office space in Melbourne’s CBD.

Working with Carr to select the location at 500 Bourke Street, the end result is a textural, collaborative space designed for approachable client and staff interaction. The unity of the refined material palette including timber, panelling and greenery evoke a sense of authenticity and inclusivity in line with Russell Kennedy’s values.

The client floor features a light-filled reception and waiting area featuring the modular Le Mura lounge by Tacchini, designed in 1972 by Mario Bellini. The timeless nature of the sofa, designed with comfort at the forefront, ensures longevity of the fit-out by adapting to the future needs of the law firm as they evolve.

Continuing the selection of modular furniture allowing for flexibility into the future, Place lounges designed by Ross Gardam and manufactured in Australia take centre stage in an open atrium where a staircase connects all levels.  The modular, high-back, and curved version of Place, selected by Carr, showcases the design’s versatility while allowing for consistency throughout the fitout.

The Place Lounge by Ross Gardam offers a perfect blend of relaxed comfort and functional versatility, creating an inviting atmosphere for both staff and clients. Ideal for hospitality spaces within the fitout, each Place module features a standardised footprint, enabling easy reconfiguration to adapt to changing needs. Modules can be linked using a concealed bracket beneath the unit or a zip mechanism at the front or side, ensuring stability while maintaining a streamlined aesthetic

Catifa 46 sled chairs by Arper and U.R folding tables by ThinkingWorks enable a seminar room to be reconfigured into various set-ups based on the law firm’s needs.
